Our Mission
To relieve pain and stress, restore health and improve vitality.
Our History
Katie Meisner Olson, a massage therapist and early pioneer in the health and wellness industry, founded Wellness Center Etc. in 1986. Katie discovered massage therapy after a serious car accident, finding massage as the only service that relieved her pain. She trained professionally to receive her certificate in massage and opened the Center, now called The Wellness Center.
Katie’s vision included other healing centers but was unfortunately cut short when diagnosed with cancer and died in1998. Many remember Katie as a gifted healer and her vision lives on.
My Story
Terri Burks, the owner and CEO, bought the business in 1998.
During a stressful time in my banking career, I found therapeutic massage when The Wellness Center provided a United Way fundraiser at my office. This was my first massage and I was amazed at my renewed energy after 10 minutes. I became a client!
I had heard about massage being helpful but until I experienced it, I had no idea how beneficial it was on both a physical and mental level. My shoulders no longer touched my ear lobes, my back felt great, I stopped taking Advil for headaches and I felt energized.
While Katie’s illness was progressing, I was ready for a career change and the group asked me to help them grow The Wellness Center. So here I am, since 1998, a proud owner and manager of a wonderful business with delightful people and a legacy in the wellness field.
Katie was devoted to the therapeutic value of massage and my commitment to that vision continues today. We continue to build upon and grow our team of therapists who seek an organization dedicated to the therapy approach. We select and hire highly skilled and trained therapists to meet the high level of quality our dedicated clients expect from us.
Thank you for visiting our website. I invite you to visit our Center and experience the difference a great massage or float tank session can make in your life.
